Do More of What You Like By Assessing Your Mindset
How often do you sit down and think specifically about where you want to be and how you are going to get there? Daily? Weekly? Monthly? Yearly? Never?
Guess what. If you answered either of the last two, I will bet that you don’t have a concrete idea of what you want, and you definitely don’t have a plan for getting there.
At the moment I’m in the middle of several large projects, and this afternoon I spent some time valuing the tasks for each. It took about 45 minutes, and I followed the method outlined here: This Is Your Path to the $1,000-Per-Hour Mindset. Here are pictures of my scribbled-all-over notes and of me in this afternoon’s office.
If you’re wondering why cooking and meal planning aren’t on the list, it’s because last year I had a bit of an overload meltdown, and my magical husband George took over meal planning. Every Sunday, he and our two older daughters plan meals and put them on our shared Google Dinner calendar.
They each pick a day to cook and then tell me what day I’m cooking depending on the week’s schedule. Everyone puts their ingredients they need on the grocery list, I make an online order, and then I pick up groceries on Monday with curbside delivery (Yay, Clicklist! Best $5 I spend all week!). Fridays are pizza or take-out, and the other two days are leftovers or something casual (or company days or whatever).
So, cooking and meal planning aren’t on my planning sheet because I already farmed them out. The best part is that when the inevitable “What’s for dinner, Mom?” question appears, I can tell the inquirer to go ask their Dad because I’m not the dinner person. Yes!
